The electroless nickel plating liquid is used to plate or coat precision parts. The liquid has the characteristic of plating any parts and components contacting the fluid.
The customer used a standard type of pump for this application. They often had to replace and repair the pump because the mechanical seal and gland packing were plated with the liquid quickly. This caused severe trouble in the operation of the pump.
In addition, the customer had another problem with a special seal of a resin pump which was thermally deformed by the high temperature of the liquid. So the customer asked us to develop a pump specialized in transferring the electroless nickel plating liquid.
Our Proposal

- Protection of products and equipment used in the plating and washing process from corrosion and heat.
- Unique seal structure contacting no liquids.
- Unique internal construction of the pump eliminating sliding(sealing) portion in the pumped liquid.
We designed and proposed a pump specialized in transferring electroless nickel plating liquid by prototyping several special impellers and repeated testing using the actual liquid supplied by the customer.
Feedback from Customer
- One pump can transfer and circulate the electroless nickel plating liquid and nitric acid. This can save much work. The only thing left to do is switching valves.
- Few sliding(sealing) parts, and no seals contacting the liquid ensure a safe operation.
- Easy maintenance of the pump without disconnecting piping has reduced working time.
